Update on This Year’s ISGS Conference and Other Announcements

회원 여러분 안녕하세요.

오늘은 좀 아쉬운 소식을 전해드리게 되었습니다.

작년 하반기부터 계획했던 서울에서의 알파고 10주년 기념 학술대회가 올해초 무산이 확정되고,

이후 중국 상하이에서 7월에 열리는 응씨배대학생바둑대회와 동시에 학술대회를 개최하기 위해 노력했으나,

오늘 중국측으로부터 개최가 불가하다는 연락을 받았습니다.

그리하여 이 문제를 부회장님 두 분, 편집위원장님 등과 논의한 끝에 올해 ISGS국제학술대회는 개최하지 않는 것으로 결정하였습니다.

벌써 4월이 시작되어 지금부터 터키에서 열리는 유럽바둑콩그레스에서 학술대회를 열기에는 준비할 시간이 너무 부족하다는 것이 이유입니다.

많이 기대하고 기다려주신 회원분들께 좋은 소식 전해드리지 못한 점 너무나 죄송합니다. 내년 학술대회는 반드시 개최될 수 있도록 지금부터 준비하겠습니다.

학술지는 예정대로 발간됩니다. 이미 신청과 함께 초록을 받았고, 몇 분의 경우는 심사까지 마친 상황입니다. 5월말 출간을 기대해주세요.

또 회비납부도 부탁드립니다. 학술대회를 자체 예산으로는 개최할 수 없어서 타 행사들에 기대어 계획을 세우다보니 저희의 의사와 관계없이 취소되는 경우가 발생됩니다. 회원 여러분의 협조가 매우 절실합니다.

Dear Members,

Hello. Today I regret to share some disappointing news.

The AlphaGo 10th Anniversary conference in Seoul, which we had been planning since the second half of last year, was officially canceled earlier this year.

Afterward, we made efforts to hold the conference alongside the Ying’s University Go Tournament scheduled for July in Shanghai, China. However, we were informed today by the Chinese side that hosting the conference there would not be possible.

Accordingly, after discussions with the two Vice Presidents, the Editor-in-Chief, and other officers, we have decided not to hold the ISGS conference this year.

As April has already begun, we concluded that there is insufficient time to prepare a conference at the European Go Congress in Turkey. This was the primary reason for the decision.

We sincerely apologize for not being able to share better news with members who have been waiting and looking forward to the conference. We will begin preparations immediately to ensure that next year’s conference will be held.

The journal will be published as scheduled. We have already received abstracts along with proposals, and in a few cases the review process has been completed. Please look forward to publication at the end of May.

We also kindly ask for your membership fee payment. Because we cannot hold the conference solely with our own budget, we have had to plan it in conjunction with other events, which has led to cancellations beyond our control. Your cooperation is therefore very important.
